Bondowoso is located on the border of Situbondo and Banyuwangi in the eastern part, Jember at southern part, Situbondo at northern and western part, and also Probolinggo at western par. Most of the dwellers in this area are either Madurase of Javanese. The main occupation of these people is farming. This regency becomes one among the most potential area in the province of East Java due to a lot of tourism spots. In this article, we will explain some of places to visit in Bondowoso.

Bondowoso offers numerous destinations that are already famous worldwide. Some of them are listed below:

  • Coffee Plantation in Jampit: also known as the Arabica Coffee Garden, this tourist destination belongs to State Owned Enterprise of Indonesia. The plantation is approximately 4000 hectares wide and located in the height of 900 m above sea level. The plantation is about 57 kilometer to the east of Bondowoso City. This place offers wonderful views and relaxing atmosphere. You can also see the coffee production process, from gardening to the final process of making coffee powders.
  • Blawan Waterfall, Indonesia: this waterfall is located near Ijen Crater. As the downstream of Kali Pahit and the estuary of Ijen Crater, the water contains a lot of sulfur that are good for your skin. It is also surrounded by macadamia vegetation. For those who want to travel to Blawan Waterfall are advised to wear hiking shoes as the road is a bit slippery and rocky.
  • Mount Raung: this mountain is 3332 meter tall from sea level and has a 500 meter deep caldera. This active volcano is a part of Mount Ijen chains, together with Mount Merapi, Mount Rante, Mount Pendil, and Mount Suket. It offers a great, stunning landscape of nature.
  • Ijen Crater: Ijen is a volcanic area where Ijen Crater is located with its plateau. In this area, you can also find sulfur mining produced by the active volcano. There are a lot of sulfur miner in this area that carry a lot of sulfur from the Ijen Crater through rocky and steep roads, and sulfur dioxide clouds. They do such a dangerous task for living. This place is considered as the mountain with the world’s biggest lake with sulfuric acid. It can produce approximately 36,000,000 m3 hydrogen chloride and sulfuric acid solution.
